Manicure techniques: The different ways to dress up your nails!

Nails enhanced by a manicure are becoming more popular as fancy trends emerge. The nail art boom is promoting the appearance of various manicures ranging from classic neutral colors to more extravagant patterns. In any case, there are all kinds of manicure techniques to adorn your nails. Today, we explain what they are to make the right choice according to your desires?!

1. The classic manicure

This is one of the best known and most practiced manicure techniques! The classic manicure begins with cleaning the nails, grooming them using a professional manicure kit, polishing nails and cleaning cuticles. Then, a transparent base is applied to protect your nail. One or even two layers of varnish are applied before finishing with a layer of top coat which will extend the life of your manicure.

✅ This technique is ideal for people who want to change their color regularly!

❌ The disadvantage is that your manicure only lasts a few days (5 days on average) and that it chips quickly.

2. Semi-permanent varnish

The semi-permanent varnish technique is for those who want to wear their manicure a little longer. This method is between classic nail polish and applying false gel nails. To start, we apply a transparent base coat that you dry for a few seconds under a UV lamp. Then, we add a 1st coat of the color of your choice then a 2nd, with a quick pass under the UV lamp in between. We finish with a last coat of top coat. The UV lamp will harden the nail polish which will last longer.

✅ Shiny, shock-resistant and non-flaking result.

❌ Removal can be restrictive since it requires applying cotton balls soaked in acetone for several minutes in order to detach the nail material, then scrape it off.

3. Gel false nails

The gel is applied to a degreased and polished nail to promote its adhesion. The nail technician then places a stencil (adhesive pattern) around the nail in its continuity on which he or she builds the extension with a brush using the gel. Once the different layers of gel have hardened under a UV lamp, the template is removed. We will therefore file it to give the nail the desired shape, before moving on to customization. As for the removal, we file the material using an electric nail file which can be aggressive for the fingers.

✅ Natural effect, more flexible and long-lasting prosthesis. All without glue!

❌ Price a little high in addition to the “aggressive” removal for the nails.

4. Acrylic false nails

Acrylic false nails are the most widespread! They are composed of powdered acrylic mixed with a liquid called monomer, the whole giving a malleable paste to work on the nail. Like the technique above, the extension is built using a template or on capsules to lengthen the nail. However, the acrylic dries in the open air and must be worked quickly. Once dry, the false nails are filed and polished to shape them according to the desired image. Finally, a layer of color is added or the patterns are worked. For removal, this is relatively simple, the acrylic melting on contact with acetone.

✅ Long-lasting hold guaranteed for 1 month!

❌ Less natural than gel, the nails being less flexible and thicker. Acrylic is also more harmful to health.

5. False nails in capsules

Indeed, the already decorated plastic capsules can be found in supermarkets or beauty stores. They are attached using glue directly to your nails. In 5 minutes flat, you have effortlessly manicured hands!

✅ To do at home in record time for a homemade manicure!

❌ They do not last long and the glue damages your nails. To be reserved for special and occasional occasions.
